The shredded jean is back

Shredded, Ripped and torn denim: Just when you thought it was over… it’s back. The shredded denim embodies the undone look of the 90s: all ripped denim, oversized silhouettes and unfinished hems. Now the torn denim shorts and shredded jeans hit the street once again. This time with shots of colour in the weft that bring bright accents to rips and fringe, this gives frayed and raw edged denim a whole new potential.

Typography Sketch Books

As I shared with you earlier, I love books and now I just came across a book I must own; Typography Sketch Books a super cool and inspiring book. It gets into the minds of designers who create type faces, word images and logos through their personal sketch books.

Pick up your own copy and get started sketching your own letters!

Rainy Landscape

The Danish summer is not always warm and sunny but always beautiful and inspiring. When I was in my family's cottage this weekend, I was completely fascinated by the rainy landscape seen through the windows.

ELLE Decoration

I love everything that has to do with design and therefore I look forward to the 24th of september when ELLE Decoration will be published in Denmark for all first time. I always buy the foreign versions of the cool interiors magazine when I travel, so I am curious whether the Danish version can live up to my high expectations.

Here are some of my interior design inspiration from Pinterest:

Friedrichshain

Last time I was in Berlin, I explored the neighborhood Friedrichshain. It is Berlin's smallest, a traditional working-class neighborhood, after the Wall came down it was taken over by students, artists and squatters. With time, Friedrichshain has become cleaner and is now one of the hippest neighborhoods in Berlin. Affluent people moving into the district, cafes and shops followed. Friedrichshain is a glimpse behind the facade and in to the originality of Berlin.

Pastel Hair

Pastel colors has been strong trend in the spring/summer 2012 global catwalk, and is now working its way from fashion into beauty. Chanel and marc by Marc Jacobs showcased a rainbow of ice-cream hair colors on the pre-summer 2013 runway. Also celebrities such as Kelly Osbourne and Lady Gaga have been spotted with sorbet colored hair. So do you dare to try this trend?

Street Art in Berlin

One of my favorite things about Berlin is to just walk around and soak up the city's atmosphere and be inspired by all the wonderful street art. The last time I was there I bought a book I definitely would recommend; Street Art in Berlin by the photographer Kai Jacob.  Kai has observed this scene for many years, gives an insider’s view of the street art. He presents the artwork, portrays some of the most important artists and describes their techniques and forms. All in all a good art guide through the streets of Berlin.

Bread & Butter & MONSIEUR VUONG

Soon it will be time for another exciting Bread & Butter trade show in Berlin. It is always great to see the different brands and feel the mood. See more about Bread & Butter  here: http://www.breadandbutter.com/summer2012-therock/home/

Berlin a wonderful city which I always enjoy coming back to. So I'd like to share some of my favorite places and things with you during the next days. The first is a must for anyone who loves to shop in Berlin-Mitte and need a little lunch: Monsieur Vuong my all time favorite lunch restaurant in Berlin, you must try it, it is in
Alte Schönhauser Str. 46, Berlin-Mitte. MONSIEUR VUONG offers specially selected, elaborate Vietnamese dishes. Be inspired by the varied aromas from the tropical gardens and rivers of the Mekong Delta in South Vietnam. Savour the aroma of curry, lemongrass and roasted sesame. Or try their fruity shakes. http://www.monsieurvuong.de/

Guerilla gardening

Yesterday I wrote about the trend urban gardening. Today I come across a different approach - Guerilla gardening - which calls for green disobedience and has a slightly anarchic nature. Here the idea is to begin transforming lawns to vegetable gardens and planting flowers anywhere you can. It is a war against neglect and scarcity of public space as a place to grow things. So start attacking the urban space with green weapons.

Urban Gardening

Urban gardens are a strong trend and are gaining ground in cities across the globe. As an alternative to the established food system and with a clear environmental benefit, it has become popular to grow your own vegetables in backyards or on top of a skyscraper

DYRK Nørrebro is an urban farming initiative that works to expand vegetable cultivation in Nørrebro, Copenhagen and creates new urban communities. Nørrebro is one of Copenhagen’s 10 districts and is a multiethnic society, inhabited by people from all parts of the world. DYRK Nørrebro is a big opportunity for this multi-cultural and some times very divided and troubled district to connect and strengthen the community spirit. It is not only activating the area sustainably and connect with people, but also turns the ‘former conflicted’ image of Nørrebro into positive collective spirit.

CALLmeKAT

I always find lots of inspiration in music. Right now I love listing to CALLmeKAT, Katrine Ottosen. Love her airy, synth-infused pop that pairs melancholy sentiment with fine melodies and also her cool style!
