The Kooples have arrived to Copenhagen

The Kooples is one of my favorite brands and one of the shops I always look forward to see when I'm in Paris or London, but now I do not need to  go abroad to enjoy the beautiful French brand, they have just opened a shop-in-shop in Illum, Copenhagen.

The French brand Kooples is named after English 'the couples' but spelled the way French pronounce it.

Kooples are masters at making blazers with a great fit, delicious little dresses, tops and shorts. The style is completed Parisian chic with a raw twist.

The Roaring Twenties

I have always been fascinated and inspired by the Roaring Twenties, with Art Deco, jazz music and especially the fashion. Therefore, I was thrilled when I found out that in May, a new film version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby will hit the movie theaters, and the costumes are designed by Prada & Miu Miu. They together have designed more than 40 cocktail and evening dresses. On the cast list are Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maquire.

I can not wait, so here is a little sneak peek of some of the sketches for the beautiful dresses.

Copenhagen Fashion Week vol.2

A little more inspiration from Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Wood Wood which showed at a gym in Nørrebro, brought a New York coolness to Fall ’13. Sporty looks were polished off with classic tailoring and featured printed denim, cropped pin-striped pants, college jackets, skater skirts, and floral-printed pieces. Very nice, very cool and very wearable. Well done Wood Wood

I will of course also have to mention Malene Birger as they celebrate 10-year anniversary of what may be said to be one of the most successful danish fashion brands. The Royal Theatre was the perfect setting for anniversary show. The show featured a beautiful classic range of well-fitting suitbukser with sharply-cut jackets, black, simple cocktail dresses with transparent details and coats in both pink, black and camel. All this was spiced with a wealth of beautiful graphic patterns. All in all, beautiful beautiful!

Copenhagen fashion week vol.1

Last week was fashion week in Copenhagen, Denmark. Here are some of the highlights that I found most inspiring;

Bruuns Bazaar showed the first collection from their new design team after former designer Rebekka Bay last season moved to New York. The collection continue in the minimalist style that Rebekah has started. It's beautiful, in exquisite materials and a modern cut.

Peter Jensen showed his collection in Magasin. The collection is building on the '60s-style cut, as Peter Jensen has worked with for several seasons, but this time the focus was on fine velvet details on the inside of a denim dress, and generally more luxurious appearance surfaces such as silk, wool and some super fine small fur collars. Intelligent and wearable fashion with a twist of humor. I especially love the jackets and the printed sweatshirt

Anne Sofie Madsen showed her collection at the town hall and here the theme was feminine Blade Runne. She showed how to boil down extreme thoughts to beautiful clothes. Here were both great showpieces and more wearable dresses and blouses.

The models were fitted with silver horns and tusks. The colors were kept in white, black and gray, with a touch of blue and orange. A cool and very exciting collection.
